I have been to Thailand.

ever ということばは、まず質問でよく使われます。
  • Have you ever been to Thailand?
    タイに行ったことある？


  • Is he ever late?
    彼が遅れたことってある？


  • Are you ever going to cook dinner for me?
    あなたが私に食事を作ってくれるなんてことがあるの？
ever は、「もし〜いつか〜なら」という if 文の中でもよく使われます。
  • If you ever go to Thailand, eat some spicy papaya salad when you are there.
    もしいつかタイに行ったら、滞在中にスパイシーパパイヤサラダを食べるといいよ。


  • If she ever eats a peanut, she needs to go straight to the hospital.
    彼女がピーナツを食べたりしたら、まっすぐ病院行きだ。


  • If you ever hear of any good documentaries about penguins, then please tell me.
    もし、ペンギンについてのいいドキュメンタリーの話をいつか聞いたら、教えてね。
*上記の仮定文は、everがなくても大きく意味は変わりませんが、everをつけた方がより「仮定」の意味合いが強くなります。

ever は、形容詞の最上級の後で、最上級をさらに強調するためにもよく使われます。
  • It's the tastiest salad I have ever eaten.
    それは今まで食べた中で一番おいしいサラダです。


  • It was the most expensive gift I have ever received.
    それは、今までにもらった中で一番高い贈り物です。


  • What's the best holiday you have ever had?
    今までで一番よかった休暇はどんな休暇？
